Start- ups

The Informal School of IT is the largest platform in Romania that brings together industry leading professionals with talented people driven by a desire to develop their unique IT skills. It was co-founded by Sebastian Văduva along with several partners from Cluj-Napoca, in 2013. The idea came after having several corporate training sessions with large IT companies that complained about having less and less time to invest in in-house technical trainings… The school rapidly expanded from Cluj-Napoca to Bucharest, Timisoara, Iasi and even Oradea, for one year and a half. The company’s hands-on approach, combined with a permanently updated curricula and convenient timeframe proved to be a successful recipe for it’s alternative school.

In 2011, while Sebastian Văduva was the Dean of Griffiths School of Management he was challenged by a US business owner to create Stark Vantage, a company specialized in IT administration, telemarketing, as well as finance and accounting for the US market. He gathered eight graduates among which there was Bogdan Negru, who later became the CEO of the Romanian company. The scale of the activity increased steadily in 2012 and by 2013 it took on the name of Stark Europe, becoming the European branch for Stark Talent, a leading staffing and recruiting company in the United States. Over the time, the team gained knowledge and expertise in back office processes, finance, IT administration, recruiting and order management. After four years of strengthening its foundation, 2014 was the perfect timing for Stark Vantage to consolidate its client base and ramp up its efforts extensively in Europe, the United States and the Middle East, as the company changed its name. In 2017, the company rebranded itself to Sourcematch, as Bogdan Negru moved to the US to boost sales for the company.

Marcela Matraku, one of the Griffiths School of Management’s alumnus, showed up while she was in her senior year (2013) at the iStart Business Plan Competition with the idea of having a platform where married or soon-to-get-married couples could come together with ghostwriters and have their love story materialized in a book. She won that year’s competition and draw the attention of some investors, among which was Advanced Solutions. That very year, Marcela started working on implementing the business and soon she had her first orders in Romania. The business was called My Love Story Book and it managed to get orders from Western Europe and from the United States. Marcela started her doctoral studies in the US and led the business towards the American market.

The Oradea Tech Hub Association is a non-profit organization created by a group of tech enthusiasts to support the local community. The objective of the Oradea Tech Hub Association is to support and develop the local community in the creative and technology industries. In order to achieve this goal, Oradea Tech Hub develops three main things: – Co-working spaces for startups and freelancers and facilitating networking between them – Organizing specific tech & creative events, meetups, etc. – Promoting the interests of local IT companies and representing them nationally (local, national authorities, etc.) and internationally

Global Medical is a consulting company created with the goal of providing the best options and treatment plans for patient care available to them when they need to use the services of a medical facility. The difficulty faced by people who have health problems is that they do not know who to turn to and do not know the qualified medical personnel according to their needs. Global Medical facilitates the process by which patients choose doctors and medical facilities by providing information on health professionals’ specialties, training, medical skills and cases resolved. At the same time, Global Medical to provide information about the equipment of medical institutions and their ability to provide the necessary conditions for the treatment of various diseases.
